St. Giles Church, Great Orton

A friendly welcome awaits you at St. Giles, the parish church of Baldwinholme, Great Orton, Little Orton and Orton Rigg. We are members of the Carlisle Rural Mission Community located within the Diocese of Carlisle. Our church is located in Great Orton, Cumbria.

St. Giles was founded in the 11th century—1098—and still standing today as witness to our Christian faith. We seek to love God and our neighbours through our worship.

We follow a regular service pattern through the year (services the second and fourth Sunday each month).

We are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer. For further Safeguarding Guidance, see our Safeguarding page, and our Safeguarding Team Contacts page.

We're always delighted to welcome you to our gatherings.

Safeguarding

The parish of Orton (St. Giles in Great Orton) is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer, PSOs. The Diocese of Carlisle’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
