St Mary's is the parish church for the village of Wheatley. We are a friendly congregation of folk from a wide range of backgrounds bound together by a desire to worship God and make his love known in our community. We welcome visitors, whether you are a stranger to church or more familiar with it. We love to sing and are led in our music by an excellent Director of Music and her supporting musicians and singers - new recruits are always welcome and enthusiasm to learn is prized at least as much as experience.
During the pandemic most of our services are online (contact the Vicar for details) as we are restricted on the numbers that we can gather in church.
Our church building was designed by G E Street in the mid 19th century, and it is Listed, Grade 2*.
"The parish of Wheatley is committed to the
safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow
the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish
Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Oxford’s safeguarding pages
contain vital links and information including contacts for the
Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are
concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk
of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns
about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your
local authority Children or Adults Services."
