St Thomas is a little gem of a church. An unexpected oasis in the Epping Forest area nestled just between Waltham Abbey and Epping Town.
The views from the churchyard across London on a sunny day are breath-taking. With a good set of binoculars you can see Wembley Stadium and many of London’s well-known landmarks.
What really makes St Thomas special? Well, like its wide vista the church is open and welcoming to all. The services are relaxed and we really don’t mind if children need to get up and move around and have a small play area set aside for them.
We enjoy a variety of services and we accept that things don’t always run smoothly and that our services are “live” and not pre-recorded so if something happens and we go “off piste” we can laugh at ourselves and go with the flow.
There’s always something going on social, too, and have a full programme of events involving the whole community and 2016 will be no exception.
We are a Christian community that seeks to engage with everybody and we exclude no one, irrespective of colour, race or sexuality. If you’re looking for a friendly church and live in the Epping Forest, Enfield, Harlow, Cheshunt areas and you don’t mind getting up early on a Sunday morning for St Thomas service at 915am we might just suit you
If you can’t make the morning service, there’s always the Sunday afternoon teas which run from May to September every year and it’s not unusual for us to have 200 or more people visit us each Sunday to enjoy the very good food our team of chefs put on.
Family Communion every Sunday at 9.15am. All are warmly welcomed.
