You will find a warm welcome at St Luke’s, one of three Anglican churches in the parish of Duston & Upton. Our services are on Sunday
or Thursday, with an opportunity to enjoy a coffee and a chat afterwards.
Together with members of our sister church, St Francis, we share many social activities including outings, music and arts events. The parish is administered by a team ministry comprising two vicars, we currenlt have a vacancy for a Rector.
We are very proud of our beautiful churchyard, which in 2001 won the Best Kept Churchyard competition, coming first out of some 800 entries from all over the United Kingdom.
St. Luke's is an early monastic church, built in the 12th century as a place of worship for Augustinian monks from the nearby St. James Abbey. During the late 13th and early 14th centuries, the church was extended to its existing size with the addition of the south porch, aisles and chancel. It has a mixture of architecture owing to its gradual construction across the centuries.
