St Mary the Virgin, Barnsley

Throughout 2022 St Mary's will be celebrating in bi-centenary of its rebuild in 1822, although St Mary's Church in the heart of Barnsley has been a place of worship and community gathering for centuries - and it continues to be a place where everyone will receive a warm welcome.  Whoever you are and whatever your background please do come and experience a Christian community where you will find friendship and companionship as we seek to follow the teaching of Jesus.

The parish of Barnsley: St Mary is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Leeds’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
