On Saturday 10th May, members from our Benefice parishes met together for our third Mission Day. Under the banner of 'Sowing the Seeds of Hope', we have as a Benefice, been discovering together, what do we mean by the term 'mission', and what does it look like in practise. In this session, we specifically looked at planning for Mission - how to organise events that encourages growth in our churches, engagement with our local communities and with individuals with whom we are in connect. Revd Geoff and Anne Loat presented four ways in which Mission can be planned, namely Praying for Growth, Presence, Proclamation and Persuasion (named the 4 Ps for short). This suggested structure originates in the vision of Leading Your Church Into Growth (LYCiG), a Church of England programme for evangelisation and mission. Our PCCs are now charged with coming up with parish Mission Action Plans, using the 4 Ps as the basis of planning missional engagement in the coming year.
