St John the Evangelist (St John's, Birtley)

St John's is the Anglican Parish Church of Birtley, previously in the Deanery of Chester-le-Street & Houghton, and recently changed to the Deanery of Gateshead, in the Diocese of Durham. We have recently appointed a new Priest in Charge, Rev'd Steve Edge, who we share with St Andrew's Church in our neighbouring parish of Lamesley.

Following a survey of our chuchyard it has been found that a substantial number of monuments are unstable. We ask that visitors take great care not to touch any of the monuments now marked with security tape. Your safety is our primary concern.
