Lyn Valley Mission Community

The Lyn Valley Mission Community comprises eight churches in an area along the North Devon coast and Exmoor. Lynton and Lynmouth are the two largest centres and are popular tourist destinations.  The other villages serve sometimes quite remote communities where farming is the main occupation. All parishes in the Lyn Mission Community are within the Exmoor National Park.

Because of the very rural nature of the area and parishes with very small populations, there will not necessarily be a service in each every week except for St Mary's in Lynton where there will be a communion service at 11am every Sunday. Parishioners are welcome to join the congregation at services in an adjoining or indeed any parish in the Mission Community. When there are five Sundays in a month, there will be a special group service at one church to which all are invited.

Our churches

Safeguarding

Our Mission Community is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies. Each parish has their own named Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO), with a direct telephone number. Each is listed on the page relevant to that particular church/parish.

Our Diocese’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO for your particular church/parish or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor a link for which you will find at the bottom of the page. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services
