The 2026 Church Tower Open day was a resounding success. The last time the tower was open was 2024, organised by the Friends of St Lawrence. This time, we were part of the Heritage Day in Gnosall which included the opening of the Lock Up and the Library.

39 people made the daring walk up the 106 spiral stairs to the top. Many came down looking windswept and tired but with huge smiles on their faces. The sense of achievement people get from making the climb and spotting the sights of Gnosall is fantastic. It was a clear day and we could see all the way to the Wrekin.

Many thanks to Helen and Sandy for providing refreshments and to Kirstin, Victoria, Peter, Dominique, Joe and Ruth for volunteering to make the day possible. Peter was the only one rained on early on in the day, so we got very lucky.

Please join us for the 2027 opening. We can’t wait to do it all again. Money raised will go towards a new door at the top of the tower.
