About Us

St Paul's opened in 1869 and was known as The Railwayman's Church as the New England area was close to a huge railway goods yard and many of the men in the parish worked on the railway. Now the Church, Hall and Vicarage are located on a 'traffic island' known as New England Triangle and is a very busy area with many different shops & businesses. Very multi cultural with Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian amongst the restaurants as well as Turkish, Chinese and Indian. Opposite St Paul's is the main Salvation Army Citadel; a Baptist Church and an AOG Pentecostal church nearby; plus a.    huge Jehovah Witness Hall; a small Spiritualist Church, a black Pentecostal congregation all in the Parish. Just out of the parish are 2 very big Mosques. It is a wonderful diverse area that is 'buzzing'.
