About Us
Message from Ven. Bob White, Vicar of St Mary's Church:
Whether you're looking to explore your faith, join in with our community events, or find out more about baptisms or marriages in the parish, we welcome you. Our parish is made up of a wide cross section of people of all ages and backgrounds, who come together to support one another in our shared faith.
Each Sunday, we gather in our two churches for a sung mass (followed by coffee and chat!). This is supplemented by further acts of worship throughout the week, as well as groups for discussions and further reflections on our faith. To find out more, please visit our Worship with Us page.
We also enjoy meeting together for relaxed, informal occasions and larger events and celebrations. While you may already be familiar with our tentpole events, such as the May Fayre and parish pantomime, there's lots more to discover. From concerts and art installations to golf and even wrestling, if you would like to see what's coming up in the parish, please visit our Services and Events page.
Whether you are a newcomer to our church or the Christian faith, a regular member of our parish, or simply passing through, I look forward to meeting you at one of our many events and services. If you have any questions or want more information, please do get in touch with me, one of the clergy, or the other people listed in our Who We Are page.
With best wishes and prayers,
Fr. Bob
Parish Vision:
We seek to be a rejuvenating community:
- of Jesus-centred, Kingdom-seeking disciples
- by being with God, being with others, and being with creation
- so that we may be ‘rooted and grounded in love’.
To enable us to do this we need to ensure :
All feel welcomed, valued and respected
All feel safe and accepted to be themselves and to explore their faith
All feel listened to, engaged with and understood
We will:
Root and centre all this in our Eucharistic worship and prayer centred life, which will shape who we are and enable us to be transformative signs of Christ’s presence and love in our lives and communities
Celebrate our heritage and seek to regenerate it while being authentic and true to ourselves
Value and enhance the gift of music and its use in the life of the Church
Seek to be a spiritually uplifting presence
Listen to, learn from and work with our local communities
Open ‘our doors, hearts and minds’ for a variety of celebrations, activities and events
