An old woman dies and goes to heaven. St Peter gives her a guide to show her round. He’s a young man who looks like he’s had a tough life. He’s got marks of nails in his hands and feet, but the old woman senses he’s not Jesus. ‘Are the thief who was crucified with Jesus, the one who asks Jesus to remember him when he gets to heaven?’ she asks.
The young man smiles and shakes his head: ‘No,’ he says,‘I’m not the good thief on the cross. I’m the angry, mocking, faithless one – the one who’s given up.’ It’s a made up story that tells us God’s love is greater than most people think...that Jesus never gives up reaching out to the lost...
If you’ve ever believed there’s a limit to forgiveness, Easter says there isn’t.
If you’ve ever believed you aren’t worth saving Easter says you are.
If you’ve ever believed fear, anger, hate and despair will always win, Easter says they won’t.
And this is good...
with love and prayers
