Hertford Benefice - 5 parishes connected by the River Hertford in North Yorkshire
The Hertford Benefice lies on the southern flank of the Deanery of Scarborough in the Diocese of York. It is named after the River Hertford that rises in the parish of Hunmanby and flows west linking all five parishes of the benefice before the river eventually flows in to the River Derwent. The benefice extends from the beach in Filey Bay on the east as far west as Potter Brompton, 10 miles inland on the A64. From roughly east to west the five parishes are:
All Saints' Hunmanby
All Saints' Muston
St. John the Evangelist Folkton (Flixton)
St. Peter Willerby (Staxton)
St. Nicholas Ganton
You can access further information about any of the 5 parishes above by visiting their individual pages below.

Safeguarding
Our Benefice is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
