Clergy and readers from the Anglican Southern Spain/Gibraltar cluster (originally the ‘deanery’) met at Cortijo Carranque near Coin for a 3-day residential to discuss how we might better support one another and build sustainability into our future planning.Topics discussed included:building centres of expertise within the cluster in aspects of ministry that could benefit one another,facilitating capacity building groups among churchwardens and treasurers in the cluster to share expertise in undertaking these key volunteer roles,engaging with prisons in Andalucia where chaplaincy is currently not available in the English language,exploring the larger cities in Andalucia where there may be people looking for worship in English, andspecific and practical ways in which we can more directly support one another’s ministries.The residential came at an important time for the cluster as not only are the 3 congregations in Morocco shortly to join us but also new chaplains are expected in the coming months in the chaplaincies of Nerja with Almuñécar and Costa Cálida Costa Almería.Cortijo Carranque offers rest and recuperation for people needing a break from the busyness and stress of everyday life; a place where you can step aside for a while, to re-connect with God and yourself, and develop a renewed vision for your life.
