St. John the Evangelist, Birkby and Christ Church, Woodhouse, Huddersfield
St John the Evangelist Church, St John’s Road was consecrated in 1853 and is an architectural icon of Huddersfield. With a soaring tower of 220ft, the spire reminds countless people to lift their eyes heavenward.
The Church has a long legacy of serving the people of Birkby. It has consistently witnessed to the Christian Gospel of Loving God and Loving your Neighbour. It has respectfully lived alongside people of different faiths or no-faith. Our community is built on the vision of transforming community through Loving, Living and Learning Together.
Our Mission Plan work focuses on:

Our activities:
Worship on Sundays and Wednesdays;
Bible Fellowship - a chance for people to understand holy scripture more;
Messy Church - a chance for families to gather and learn about scripture using craft and games;
Coffee Mornings—a chance for people to meet up; Heritage Open Days– a chance for the wider community to appreciate the heritage;
Outreach to Schools - leading assemblies and services;
Social clubs - Monday Whist Club;
Outreach to Asylum Seekers - providing support and advice;
Interfaith and belief - we actively seek understanding and respectful relationships with other faith and people of no faith.
