An appeal is being made by the Church of All Saints Fring for funds to repair and improve the west end of the church and the chapel that is being created there. The PCC have agreed that this work should result in the creation of St. Christopher’s Chapel and the tower within which it is placed will henceforth be called St. Christopher’s Tower. Fring has an ancient history of ministry for travellers on Peddars Way, and we have the wonderful wall painting of St. Christopher, the Patron Saints of Travellers.
We are immensely lucky in Fring to hold a service in church every Sunday of the year, and we are well supported. The church is an important part of the village community, and we are devoted to continuing the ministry it offers.
Work such as we propose always highlights other ancillary needs. These include updating electrical lighting, cleaning and repairing parts of the church which are badly in need of that restorative work, and improving our access to the building. Many members of our congregation are in their mature years, and they currently navigate a gravel path which is unfriendly to walking sticks and even more unfriendly to wheelchairs. We therefore hope to improve our car parking and provide a bonded footpath to the church which will be a great help
to them.
The total sum that we hope to raise is £85,000 which is a lot for a small church such as ours. I am happy to tell you that, thanks to the generous support of a small group of our congregation, we have already reached nearly £40,000 toward the total needed.
Can you help us? I do hope so. You could send me a cheque payable to All Saints Fring or pay your gift into our bank account which is:
Barclays Bank
Fring All Saints Church
Sort code:20-46-65
Acc No: 30389757
Please put “SCTA” on the paying-in details so that our treasurer will know that you wish your money to be used for this purpose. A statement from you either by letter or email saying that you want your contribution to be used only for the maintenance and improvement of the church building and church yard will ensure that your money cannot be spent on anything other than those works.
If you are a UK Tax-payer you could agree to add Gift Aid to your donation which will allow us to claim 25% on your gift at no cost to you. You may also be entitled to claim a rebate on your own Tax liability! If you agree, please confirm that to us in making your gift.
We are determined that this generation will leave All Saints in a condition fit for its ministry for many years in the future. Your gift will help us to do that.
Thank you so much for your support.
