Prayers for the world and the local community

Compline is the Church’s service of night prayer, said at the end of the day before rest. It is a quiet, reflective office, marked by simplicity, confession, psalms, and a final prayer for protection through the night. In its stillness, Compline invites worshippers to lay down the day’s burdens and entrust themselves to God’s care.

Through Scripture, reflection, and the use of art, music and film, we will listen to words spoken in extremity and allow them to speak into our own lives and our shared world.

These final sayings open up themes of mercy, hope, belonging, suffering, vulnerability and trust.

Each session offers space to think, to question, and to talk together about what these words might teach us about God, about ourselves, and about how we live. All are welcome – no prior knowledge needed, just a willingness to reflect and listen.

A place of support, advice, activities and refreshment to people living with dementia and their carers. A welcoming place for others that enjoy the friendship of others.

Join us for a relaxed Jazz Brunch with live music from Phil Probert, a talented jazz performer and much-loved local from the village. Enjoy the smooth sounds of jazz while tucking into a delicious bacon, sausage or egg roll (with vegetarian options available), all served with hot drinks. Alongside the music there’ll be plenty to browse and enjoy, including a tombola, games, and a jigsaw stall. A perfect way to spend a laid-back morning with good food, great music and friendly company.

Be Still is a gentle space for anyone who longs for a little quiet in a noisy world.

Once a month, St Crispin Chapel becomes a small circle gathered around a simple centre: a candle, a stone, a book. We meet for thirty minutes when the week still hums in your body. Through a short reading, perhaps some calming music, and shared silence, you’re invited to slow down, breathe, and simply be.

There is no pressure to speak and nothing to achieve. Just space to rest, reflect, and gently explore the spiritual in a way that feels safe, quiet, and human.

During Holy Week we gather for the Eucharist on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, marking the days that lead us toward the Passion. These services offer space for prayer, scripture, and sacrament as we walk more closely with Christ in the final days of his earthly ministry. Each Eucharist stands as a quiet act of preparation, drawing us deeper into the mystery of Holy Week before the solemn days of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

The Eucharist on Maundy Thursday marks the beginning of the Paschal Triduum and commemorates the institution of the Lord’s Supper. It recalls Jesus’ final meal with his disciples, where he gave the commandment to love and to serve one another. This solemn and intimate service leads us into the events of the Passion, as the Church keeps watch with Christ in prayer and remembrance through the night.

Following the Eucharist on Maundy Thursday, the church remains open for a silent vigil. This time of watchful prayer recalls Jesus’ vigil in Gethsemane and invites quiet reflection in his presence. Lenten books are provided to help guide prayer and meditation, though all are welcome simply to sit in silence and keep watch.

On Good Friday we take part in a Walk of Witness, joining with Christians from other churches in the village. Walking together through the streets, we sing hymns and pray, bearing public witness to the Cross and to our shared faith. This simple act of pilgrimage expresses unity, remembrance, and hope at the heart of Good Friday. Meet at Colwall Green. Finishes at Colwall Community Church.

On Good Friday we gather for a service of words and music, reflecting on the Passion and death of Christ. In scripture, prayer, and song, we are drawn into the solemnity of the day. During the service we receive the reserved sacrament from Maundy Thursday, linking our remembrance of the Cross with the Eucharist instituted the night before, as the Church keeps watch at the foot of the Cross.

On Easter Sunday we celebrate the joy of the Resurrection with a family-oriented Eucharist, welcoming all ages to share in the good news that Christ is risen. The service is followed by an Easter egg hunt, offering a time of fun and fellowship as we rejoice together in new life and hope.
