The service focuses on prayer for healing and wholeness, and those attending may bring concerns for healing for themselves, for someone they care for, or for the wider world in which we live. The Evening Hour takes place in a circle around a candle, and readings or reflections are shared by those leading the service. There is also the option to join in with a Taize chant or well-known hymn for those who wish to.

The Hereford Nativity

Wednesday 26 November & Thursday 27 November, 7.30 pm

Following on from the success of The Hereford Passion in 2024, Hereford Cathedral will be staging a theatrical production of the Nativity, directed by The Revd Canon James Pacey.

The Hereford Nativity will tell the story of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth with a focus on the relationship between Mary and Joseph and the struggles which they, and other people, faced in ancient Judea. In a fully staged production, the Hereford Nativity will explore the origins of Christmas in a fresh and dynamic way which will appeal to Christians and non-Christians alike.

The performance will begin at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm) and tickets cost £10 per adult and £6 per child. Group discount applies - purchase ten tickets receive your 11th for free.

Please note that there is no interval in this production.

Christmas Sparkle Organ Concert

As part of the Christmas season, join us for Christmas Sparkle, an organ concert performed by Peter Dyke, featuring a selection of festive favourites for Advent and Christmas. The concert will take place on Saturday 29 November, at 1:15 pm.

Admission is free and no pre-booking is required. There will be a retiring collection at the end of the concert.

All proceeds from donations will go to Hereford Cathedral Perpetual Trust and their work supporting the cathedral and its music, including the great Father Willis organ.

We are delighted to welcome back the Cathedral Choir to lead the much-loved Advent Service at The Guards’ Chapel in London on Tuesday 2 December. As in previous years, the service will begin at 6.30pm with an Act of Remembrance at the memorial to the SAS.

Thanks to the continued generosity of our many friends and supporters, Hereford Cathedral Perpetual Trust has been able to sustain its vital support for the cathedral and its exceptional musical tradition. The service is free to attend but ticketed, with a suggested donation of £35. We invite you to give as generously as you can, helping to ensure that Hereford Cathedral’s musical excellence continues to inspire and uplift our community.

Family Nativity Trail

We will start with a Nativity Family Trail on Thursday 11 December 2025 until Saturday 10 January 2026, families can take part in our Nativity Trail across the cathedral to discover more about the story of Christmas.

Pick up a free leaflet from the Welcome Desk as you arrive and follow the trail around the cathedral to find the different parts of the nativity story. Answer the questions as you go around, take the highlighted letters from your answers and you will be able make a festive word at the end of the trail!

Once you’ve found the answer, take your sheet to the Welcome Desk or Ticket Desk to claim your sticker!

We'd love to see pictures of you taking part in this year's trail - please feel free to tag us on social media!

The trail will take approximately 30 minutes to complete and is suitable for KS1 & KS2 (and their grown ups!). The trail will not be available to take part in when worship is taking place.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

SATURDAY 13 DECEMBER | 9.30AM - 4PM

Over forty stallholders will be in the cathedral on Saturday 13 December for our annual Christmas Fair. The Fair opens at 9.30am and will be featuring homemade produce, handcrafted items and plenty of festive gifts and crafts from local stallholders.

We will be singing carols outside in the cathedral close at midday, all are welcome to join in!

Entry is free for the Christmas Fair and we will be asking for donations on the door which will go to support the work of Hereford Cathedral. We recommend bringing cash on the day as not all stalls will be taking card payment

Light up a Life Service

We warmly invite you, your family, and friends to join us for a Light up a Life service.
Sunday 14 December at 6pm.

Light up a Life offers a chance to come together with others who understand the experience of grieving the loss of a loved one. At the service, candles are lit, each representing the life and memories of someone special.

The service is an inclusive and beautiful occasion featuring music, readings, refreshments, and a moment of reflection for those who have held a special place in our hearts. Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of their connection. The service is suitable for the entire family and we welcome people of all ages.

It’s free to attend, but as always, we’d love you to consider making a donation on the night if you are able to, to help us continue caring for people this Christmas.
After the service, you will have a chance to view the Books of Remembrance. This contains the names of those who had a dedication made to them before 27th November.

This service is very popular, so we’d suggest you arrive by 5.30pm to secure your seat/s.

We’d ask that you pre-register to let us know you are coming so that we can accommodate numbers, but please be aware that this does not guarantee seating.

ABF Christmas Family Concert

A family-festive-favourite returns to Hereford Cathedral this winter when the Army Benevolent Fund stage their ever-popular Christmas concert on Wednesday 17 December starting at 7pm.

Among those performing at this year’s concert will be the Herefordshire Veterans Choir, the Herefordshire Youth Concert Band, Vocalise Choir, Marches Military Wives Choir, the Hereford Fanfare Trumpets, and STARS Military Youth Choir.

This event has become a most-go-to occasion in peoples’ festive calendars and the programme features a wide range of popular music to suit all tastes as well as seasonal favourites, reflecting and honouring the service of soldiers past and present.

Toddler Carol Service

Festival of Lessons & Carols

Everyone is welcome to join us for our annual Festival of Lessons & Carols service. In order to secure a seat for the service we ask everyone to book a ticket. There will be an option to donate towards the work of Hereford Cathedral when you book online, and in person following the service. A donation of £10 per adult is suggested but please feel free to give what you can. All donations are gratefully received.

Tickets can be booked via the cathedral website, the Ticket Desk or by calling 01432 374 202 from Monday 3 November. The ticket-desk will be open for in-person and telephone bookings, Monday to Friday – 10 am – 5 pm.

Please note that for tickets to be posted, there will be a £2 charge, and all postage ticket orders will need to be submitted no later than Friday 12 December.

Tickets are unreserved, you will be allocated an area to sit by the cathedral steward on arrival. If you no longer require your tickets please contact the Ticket Desk to return them and we can reallocate them.

This is a very popular service, and we look forward to welcoming many people to worship in the cathedral. Doors open from 6pm and we ask that you enter via the North Door (main entrance). Please note there will likely be queues. There is no parking available on site. If you have any accessibility requests or questions, please contact the Tickets team in advance.
