How Caple church has produced a quirky fund-raising calendar for 2027. Its name? 'Picturesque Potholes of Herefordshire.'The £12 calendar (£20 for two) catches, in glossy colour, twelve of the county's loveliest potholes in all their glory. They were taken in various rural parts of Herefordshire and with each month you will be able to turn to a new, suspension-shattering crater. Organist Lois Letts, who took most of the photographs, explains: 'We decided to put the potholes to good use. As I zoom about the country from church to church I often hit jarring holes which cause my old Vauxhall endless trouble. Our rector, Laura, has also had more than her share of flat tyres and banjaxed axles.' The calendar is not intended to be a dig at the county council, whose pothole-repair teams are working, we know, as fast as they can. Rather it is meant to illustrate the scale of the problem they face.'These calendars make perfect Christmas or New Year presents,' says Mrs Letts, 61, of The Old Mill, How Caple, HR1 4SR. 'If anyone would like to order, they can write to me or email me on lhletts@outlook.com .'All profits from the calendar will go to How Caple church.
