We have just one service in the Presteigne group of Parishes next Sunday, 23 August, but it is a very special one, taking place at All Saints Church, Kinsham. As you may have read in our rector’s letter in the summer edition of our parish magazine, following a very long and complicated legal process, guardianship of the lovely old building of All Saints, a place of worship since the early 14th century, has passed into the kind and capable hands of the owners of neighbouring Kinsham Court. The ecclesiastical parish has been taken into a new Parish of Lingen with Kinsham, with St Michaels, Lingen serving as the parish church for both villages. Sunday’s service will mark this important transition, giving thanks for the part the building has played in the life and history of Kinsham and the surrounding community, and for the fellowship of Christians who have faithfully worshipped there and cared for the church over the centuries. The service will be attended by the Bishop of Hereford, and will be followed by a celebration lunch. Everyone is warmly encouraged to come along and join the congregations of Lingen and Kinsham, whether you normally worship at one of our other churches or elsewhere, to support them as they move into the next phase of their history. For those who haven't previously visited, All Saints can be found in the grounds of Kinsham Court, on the right hand side of the road from Combe Corner, just before you come into Kinsham village. Parking will be signposted.
