November saw us prepare and send off 20 shoeboxes at our cafe church via Teams4U. We are proud to support this wonderful charity. We commemorated remembrance with a wonderful service which included the 2 minutes silence and laying of a wreath at our war memorialThe month ends with our uplifting Songs of Praise and cheese and wine social on 30th November at 6pm. We will be celebrating the start of advent at this service too.Coming up in December we will be meeting in the pub in Drakes Broughton on Thursday 4th at about 6pm for carol singing. Come along and join us to kick start the festive season. We will be continuing our Advent theme at our more relaxed cafe church on 7th December at 10;30am. Families love this service as it is slightly more informal and there is plenty to do for the children. We have people of all ages at this service and it is growing really well. Our carols by candlelight service is a beautifully atmospheric service of traditional carols and readings to celebrate Christmas. We follow it with mulled wine and mince pies.On Christmas Eve we hold our crib and christingle service at 4pm. This is always a very popular service where we place the figures in the crib and present Christingles. the service lasts about 40 minutes and is a great way of reminding everyone of the meaning of Christmas. We do not hold a midnight service in our parish but visitors are encouraged to go to Pershore Abbey where a traditional Midnight Eucharist is celebrated at 23:15 and is seen as the first Eucharist of Christmas. We do have a family Eucharist on Christmas Day at 9.30am We hope to see you at some or all of the above and wish you a very merry Christmas
We have now held 5 Songs of Praise services and they have all been very successful. The June Service saw us present our long serving churchwarden - Brian - with a journalling Bible and cash to buy a lovely wooden reclining chair for him to relax in now that he doesn't have the worry of faculties and the like! Brian is staying on our PCC and is actively involved in church activities so it is not goodbye! Thank you Brian for your long service. The songs of praise service was followed by cheese and wine which went down so well that we have decided to make this a permanent addition to the service. We have a varied programme of music from traditional hymns played by the organ to more modern worship songs some played by our own music group and some by MP4.Why not come along to the next one and see for yourself. The services are held on the 5th Sunday of the month so about 4 times a year. Usually at 6pm but the December one will be at 9.30am.Hope to see you soon.
The first Soup and Social was held on October 3rd and was a great success. Hot soup and bread was served in the church and it was a great chance to chat and enjoy a social occasion. The next one is Tuesday 7th November from 12 - 2pm. Everyone is welcome. The church is lovely and warm and the soup is delicious. See you there!Soup and Social is held every month on the second Tuesday.
We have been running cafe church now for 5 months and it has been gradually evolving. A great opportunity for people to come together, enjoy a cup of tea/coffee/squash and delicious pastries. We can sing, pray, talk, discuss and create all in the comfort of our lovely village church. The Church is set up as a cafe so everyone is seated around tables which adds to the informality of the occasion. Everyone is welcome whatever their ages as there is something for everyone. The service is every 1st Sunday of the month.
