Church yard wildlife

Langham is an Ecochurch with the eastern part of the church yard with older graves managed sensitively as a wildflower meadow. It has paths mown for access. Most of the meadow is cut and collected in late summer by volunteers. Patches of long vegetation are left untouched to create a mosaic habitat. There are also ivy balls and mature trees with bird nest boxes. The gravestones are also habitat for a range of lichen and mosses.

After five years of cutting and collecting the meadow, suddenly there are signs of a waxcap grassland habitat with corals, spindles, waxcaps appearing in autumn.
