However, there will be a services at Christ Church Henton on: - 9am Easter Sunday (5th April) - in the Churchyard - weather permitting - please bring chairs and blankets to sit on - 9am Sunday 10th May - Holy Communion - in the Church, followed by APCM - 10:30am Sunday 31st May - All Together Communion - in the Church While the revitalisation work is taking place people are encouraged to visit Christ Church Coxley or St Matthew's Church, Wookey. Come along to this special joyful service at the start of Holy Week. We remember Jesus entering Jeusalem. The excited crowds waved palm branches, celebrating the arrival of the long-awaited Messiah. This is the only church service happening in our churches today, so it's a chance for all of the local people to worship together. There'll be hymns, prayers, Bible readings and Holy Communion. Tenebrae

Tenebrae is a chance to focus on the loss felt by Jesus' followers caused by his betrayal by Judas, his death on the cross and his burial in a tomb. This service reflects on the different shadows cast by these events, and this is symbolised by 13 candles. One by one each of these candles are extinguished leaving the church in darkness. This service reminds us that Jesus' suffered these shadows so that we might be restored to God and have eternal life.

This year's Easter Sunday service is taking place in the churchyard, as phase 1 of the Revitalising Christ Church Henton project is being completed, so please bring chairs and picnic blankets to sit on. This year's service will be a bit more informal than in previous years, given that it's outside, so if you prefer a formal Easter Sunday Holy Communion service you might prefer to attend the 10:30am services at Coxley or Wookey.
