It was announced today, Sunday 6 December, the after Easter 2021, Fr David has been appointed to be the next Vicar of Accrington St Andrew, St Peter and St Mary Magdalen, and Church Kirk, and to be the Area Dean of Accrington.

Bishop Philip approached Fr David last December to suggest this potential move, and after a good deal of prayer and reflection, Fr David has been appointed as Vicar of these parishes in Accrington. In the announcement in Church this morning, Fr David spoke of his sadness at leaving a place where he has been very happy, but also his excitement of taking on the new challenge of a Benefice of three churches and four schools.

None of this will take place until after Easter next year, and Fr David looks forward to continuing to lead the parish here in Adlington, to seek to ensure the love of God continues to be proclaimed to the people of this place.

Please keep Fr David, and the people of the parishes in Accrington in your prayers, and pray for Bishop Philip, together with the Church Wardens and PCC here, as they begin to make plans for the appointment of Fr David’s successor as the new Vicar here.
