The Annual Meeting of Parishioners and the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) for St Paul's will be held this year on Sunday 25 October at 11.45 am. These meetings are usually held in April, but this year have been delayed by the Covid Pandemic. The Annual Meeting of Parishioners is to elect two churchwardens to serve for the coming year, and may be attended by all who are on the Church electoral roll, together with those who live within the parish boundaries and whose names are on the civil electoral roll. The APCM is to elect three lay members to the Deanery Synod, and six lay members to the Parochial Church Council (PCC), and may be attended by those whose names are on the Church electoral roll. The Deanery Synod exists to discuss matters of importance to the church both in the Chorley area, but also across our diocese, and nationally. The PCC works with Fr David in setting our vision for St Paul's Church, and in the day to day running of our parish. In preparation for these meetings, we have also given notice that the Church Electoral Roll will be revised. If you are not entered on the roll, and would like to, please fill in a form (available in Church), and the Electoral Roll Officer (Ian Horsfield) will ensure that you are able to take part. This needs to be done before 8 October.Nomination forms for both of these meetings are available at the back of Church: please consider prayerfully whether God is calling you to serve him in taking an active part in the running of your local Church.

This year's Harvest Festival will feel a little different, as we negotiate the rules and restrictions that the Covid Virus has placed upon us. But none of that takes anything away from the great things God has given to us, and our need both to thank him for those good things, and to seek to share them with others. As in previous years, we will hold a collection for the Bishop's Harvest Appeal, which is collecting funds for Tear Fund's work with Ethiopian families suffering from the effects of climate change, locusts and coronavirus; and also for Friends of the Holy Land, working in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and in Israel and aims to support Christian communities there which often find themselves living in very difficult circumstances.Further details, and ways of giving to both of these charities electronically are available here; alternatively, there will be an opportunity at all the services in the week beginning 27 September, to make a donation in Church to this appeal.Alongside these cash donations, we are also inviting people to make donations of food and other household items for Chorley Help the Homeless, which is a small independent local charity working hard to support those at risk of or affected by being homeless in the Borough of Chorley. Please do give generously to these charities, as together we give thanks for the privilege of having good things in our lives, while at the same time, seeking to share some of that privilege with those who are not so fortunate.
