Our Building
The church building was Grade 2 listed in 2001.
The village Post Office operates in the Parish Office in the annexe. It is usually open on Mondays from 10.00 until 13.00; on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12.45 until 15.45.
There are two toilets in the west end annexe. The larger has baby-changing facilities, and is equipped for the disabled.
Music and Worship
The organ was built by Jardine in Manchester in 1888, and installed in the south east chamber. It was conservatively restored in 2000 by David Wells of Liverpool, the builders responsible for many of the quality organs in the north-west, including that in Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. It has eight manual stops, one pedal stop and tracker action throughout. Visiting organists are welcome to play this fine little instrument. For more details, contact the Director of Music.
Occasional BCP evensongs, especially choral.
A small but dedicated four-part choir rehearses usually on a Wednesday evenings (see Calendar) and sings at Holy Communion and special services, including weddings or funerals by arrangement. New members are always welcome. Please contact the Director of Music for more details,
Groups, Courses and Activities
The Little Fishes group for babies and toddlers meets on a Friday morning. 'Raise and Praise' services for the Benefice take place on the first and third Saturday mornings of each month, usually at the church hall of Preesall, St Oswald, but occasionally at St James'. Go! - God Outdoors, a forest-church-inspired outdoor activity takes place every couple of months: see Calendar for details.
An informal Men's Group takes place usually on Monday evenings at 7.30 in the annexe (see Calendar) for bible-based discussions along with 'pies and pints' (optional!) A similar Ladies Bible Study Group takes place on Wednesday evenings at 7.30 in the Parish Office. New members welcome to either group- come along and try us out!

St James' Free Wifi
There is a short leaflet giving details of some salient points about the church; and also a more detailed church history leaflet (also available on the church website, www.stjames.stalmine.net). Both are free and available at the back of church.
Weekdays from 10.00 until 3.00 p.m., and Saturday mornings except when services are in progress.

Other Features
The PCC has resolved to be a Fairtrade church, using Fairtrade products and services.
The church has a good sound system including a loop for the hard of hearing. Two video projectors (one pointing east, the other west) allow the screening of notice information, words of hymns, liturgy etc., video clips and visual presentations.
The church annexe can be hired for birthday parties, meetings, awaydays etc. There are adjacent kitchen and toilet facilities. Contact the Churchwardens for more details
