Lent Reflections – Begin this week in the Broadway Way Rooms at 4 pm. Hope you will come along. Please ring the Vicarage if you need a lift – 874402. We’re aiming to be finished no later than 5.15 pm.

John Richardson RIP – John’s funeral will take place in church on Monday 4th March at 2.30 pm followed by a committal at Carleton. In the meantime, please remember him and those who miss him in your prayers.

This Friday – 24th February marks the 2nd anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Latest figures report 340, 000 people have been killed, severely wounded or are missing. There are 9.6 million Ukrainians who have been displaced, 6 million of whom are now classed as international refugees. With no end in sight there are several churches in Lancashire holding special “Prayers for Ukraine.” The nearest church to us is St Laurence’s Church in Chorley PR7 1EB where prayers will be held on Monday 26th at 6.15 pm. Everyone is welcome. You may wish to use the prayer above this coming week.

Heavenly Father, hear our prayers for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine.   Lord, we ask for peace for those who need peace, reconciliation for those who need reconciliation and  comfort for all who don’t know what tomorrow will bring.

Lord God, we ask for you to be with all – especially children who are suffering as the crisis in Ukraine deteriorates. Lord for those who are anxious and fearful. For those who are bereaved, injured or who have lost their lives. And for those who have lost loved ones.

Lord, we ask that decisions makers hear Your voice, we ask for wise actions from global leaders - who have the power not only to start wars, but to stop them too.

And Father God we cry out for an end to this crisis. For mercy, peace, and truth – because You are light, hope, power, and love. Amen.

Next Sunday – following the 10.45 service we are all invited to join Lawrence and Olga in the Broadway Rooms to celebrated their Diamond Wedding. Today is your last chance to sign up at the back of church so that we know how many we’re catering for. With all the sadness of late it will be good to be together and enjoy this happy occasion.

Please remember in your prayers: Tony Ryan, Louise Clark, Rev Martin Keighley, Mark Price, Craig Abson, Peter Holden & Rev Jane Everett.

                                                     God of compassion, be close to those who are ill, afraid or in isolation.

In their loneliness, be their consolation;

in their anxiety, be their hope; in their darkness, be their light;

through him who suffered alone on the cross,

but reigns with you in glory, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please also remember the families and friends of, Ray Kettle, Christine Jenkinson and John Richardson whose funerals are due to take place.
