Thursday 14th May Ascension Day - This coming Thursday at 12 noon, following Coffee Morning, we will celebrate the Festival of the Ascension of Our Lord. Ascension Day marks forty days after Easter, during which the risen Jesus appeared to more than five hundred people.

In Acts 1 and Luke 24:50–53 we read: “When Jesus had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshipped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.”

The Ascension is a vital part of our Christian story and of our understanding of who Jesus is. It marks the completion of his earthly ministry and prepares the way for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Christ’s return to heaven reminds us that he is not only fully human, but also fully divine. Seated at the right hand of the Father, he reigns with authority over heaven and earth.

Yet the Ascension is not simply an event from the past to be remembered. It also gives us hope for the future. Scripture tells us that Jesus continues to intercede for us before the Father (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25). He remains our advocate and representative even now.

The Ascension also points us toward the promise of eternal life. Just as Christ entered into the fullness of heavenly glory, so we are promised a share in that life with God. And as the angels declare in Acts 1:11, the same Jesus who ascended into heaven will one day return — to restore, renew, and redeem all things.

Come on Thursday if you can!

Saturday 16th May If you’ve signed up for the BIG DAY OUT the bad news is that the Hog Roast Lunch has sold out! The good news is we can take our own lunch! Please meet on the Church car park (with your lunch), at 11.45 am. We will then make our way to the tram and into Blackpool. The worship concert starts at 2 pm and is due to end at 3.15 pm. If you wish to make your own way into Blackpool and meet us there, please feel free to do so.
