Harvest Festival: On Sunday 10th October we will be celebrating Harvest in church. Infection rates in Fylde and Wyre are still climbing and many of us are now due to have our booster jabs. For this reason, we have decided to keep our celebrations low key again this year. (We’ll make up for it next year God willing!) That said we will still be collecting dried foods, tins, and toiletries as usual between now and the 10th which will in turn be distributed to local agencies.

Bishop Julian has asked us all to consider making a financial donation to support the work of the Mosamaria Trust which is a charity working with those in most need, in our link diocese of The Free State. This year’s appeal will focus on their work with orphans and vulnerable children who have been affected by the various illness associated with AIDS. Available with this newsletter is an envelope which if you choose to donate can be placed in the collection plate at the back of church.

An annual appeal like this is a helpful reminder of the needs of those much less fortunate than ourselves. Out of our thankfulness may there be generosity. May the result of this appeal bring glory to God and blessings to many.

Community Coffee Mornings: Thanks to the great response for volunteers, we are now able to host a weekly coffee morning every Thursday in the Jubilee Room starting on the 14th October and from 10.00 am. Please do come along for a brew, a chat and some company. Invite your neighbours too. Initiatives like this only work if you personally invite folk and maybe offer to come with them initially. There are flyers at the back of church for you to pass on. Let’s make this an outreach ministry of friendship.

Coming soon: Starting on 15th January 2022, St Nicholas will be hosting a breakfast Alpha in the Broadway Rooms. This is a joint venture with our friends from St Wulstan’s. More information will be available in the coming weeks but you might want to prayerfully consider if this is something you should attend and just as importantly, who you might invite. Twenty of us joined St Wulstan’s in 2019 and were inspired, loved and cared for. If you attended then you’ll know that we’re going to need lots of help hosting Alpha. Would you consider being a helper?
