There is always unlimited and free parking on Highbury Avenue and to make access from that side easier, the church door on Highbury will be open on Tuesdays. Sorry for any inconvenience. Public Notice – At the AGM the Vicar reported on our efforts to replace the windows on both sides of the church tower. This is a huge undertaking and has taken many meetings and planning to get to this stage. From Wednesday of last week we commenced a period of 30 days notice to give anyone in the church or the community the opportunity to object. Please do ask the Vicar or any member of the PCC for further details. And do pray that this project will be allowed to proceed. Church Maintenance Fellowship – We really need to get together a small group of people who will meet together regularly to plan and undertake general maintenance of the church and church grounds. Could you trim the bushes? Could you cement the paving stone that’s loose? Could you reattach the downpipes? Could you unblock the drains that take the water from the roof? Could you brew up? Could you clean the windows at ground level? It’s important that we get on top of these jobs otherwise they will morph into expensive problems. Brian Pendlebury has kindly offered to head this up for us. There’s a sheet at the back of church if you’re interested in hearing more. 100 Club This week’s winners are: Sue Dell (No 31 - £15) Berny McCarthy (No 88 - £10) and Margaret Pook (No 52) Please continue to pray …… for Elsie, Nigel, Jane, Margaret and Tom. Pray for Ethan and his family as he is baptized today. Loving Father, you sent us your Son Jesus to be the way, the truth and the life. You gave us your Holy Spirit to guide us and fill us with Christ’s love. You are one God, three Persons! Help us to share more deeply in your boundless love as the Trinity. May our church family be a reflection of that love. We make this prayer in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Jesus said, “I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I have said to you.” (John 14:25-26) Gracious God, make me new in the Spirit of Jesus so that I can truly become the person I am meant to be. And today may your Spirit help me help others, especially those who have drifted from your way, or who find it impossible to believe, or who are trapped by fear and guilt. Set me free, God. Set me free to be myself. Free to help others.

Coronavirus update w.e.f May 17th – Moving to the next step of the government’s road map this coming week makes very little difference to our existing procedures. Congregational singing is still prohibited and we are still waiting for clarification regarding serving refreshments. Whilst the limit at funerals has been removed, it is still limited to the socially distanced capacity of the church. We have 10 pews in use, which will accommodate a maximum of 10 family bubbles/households. Families will be asked to complete a seating plan prior to the funeral. Annual General Meeting – As this meeting follows close on the heels of the last meeting, we will only be attending to the necessary legal requirements. There will be no reports from the PCC or group leaders. In the spirit of transparency, there will be an opportunity to ask any questions, seek clarification or to raise any concerns or joys, with the Vicar and members of the PCC. 100 Club This week’s winners are: Peter Meekins (No 13 - £15), Muriel Freestone (No 84 - £10) and Christine McLellan (No 38 - £5) Please continue to pray …… for Elsie, Nigel, Jane, and Tom Boyd, Linda Edwards and Mandy Barling. It is with much sadness that we learned that Alan Mather died on Saturday afternoon. Please remember him and his family in your prayers. Ascension to Pentecost - Almost all the prayer journals we ordered have been distributed and if each person is praying for 5 others to come to faith, then that’s 350 new disciples!! We so hope that you are finding the content helpful in your daily discipline. Overflowing God, breathe the spirit of Jesus into me and into all those who long for peace, especially those who have drifted from your way, got stuck in their faith, or who have not yet found a way to believe. You believe in them. Renew them by your Spirit. And today may your Church be filled with joy. Amen.

Funds collected this year were to be devoted to helping communities which are being devastated by the effects of climate change. Extreme weather means people are struggling to survive without a reliable source of water. Your gift could help a community build an earth dam, so when the rains do come, they will have the water they need to live. Every envelope: Every gift can change lives. Please prayerfully consider using the envelope provided. Place your gift in the collection plate in church and we will pass it on to Christian Aid. To donate on line click here. THY KINGDOM COME – Last week we asked if you would join with us in dedicating the days between Ascension and Pentecost to pray ‘Come Holy Spirit.’ The promised prayer journal, with an excellent introduction from Archbishop Stephen, is available today. This booklet will help you pray through the 11 days (13th - 23rd May). Please pick a copy up if you are attending church, otherwise we’ll do our best to get one to you before Thursday. There will be a service of Holy Communion to mark the Ascension of our Lord at 12 noon on Thursday.
