We all think of holly and ivy as being associated with Christmas, but their significance goes much further back in history. Add beautiful pine cones into the mix and we become even more intrigued! Come and join us at St Anne’s, Syston on Saturday, November 25th from 1.30pm – 3.30pm to listen to Professor Stephen Hill explain why we adorn our front doors with wreaths at Christmas and what role pine cones have in our history.Professor Hill will speak from 1.45pm – 2.15pm, leaving a little time for questions. After Professor Hill’s talk in the Church, we invite you to wander down and join us in the Church Room for afternoon tea. We request a £5 per head donation with all funds going towards the upkeep of our beautiful church and grounds. There will also be some beautiful hand-crafted pine cone Christmas decorations for sale.
