This energetic, young ensemble dedicated to giving vibrant performances brimming with passionate musical connection was formed in Manchester in 2025 at the RNCM (Royal Northern College of Music). As well as working towards recitals and several competitions, they have performed in masterclasses and received coaching from numerous esteemed professional ensembles such as the NOVO, Elias and Brodsky Quartets.
Comprised of musicians from the UK, Ireland and Australia, the members of Sterna Quartet also enjoy spending their time playing in a range of different settings. David has played with several professional ensembles in the UK and Australia such as the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Southern Cross Soloists and Camerata - Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra. Orin has also enjoyed performing in a variety of orchestras and chamber ensembles, in particular with the Baroque Soloists led by Roger Hamilton. His interest in exploring early music on period instruments is nurtured by Dr Pauline Nobes. Matthew regularly appears as a chamber musician at the St Endellion and Pudding Chare festivals and plays with professional ensembles across the North, including the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Cillian has enjoyed a diverse range of ensemble experience, from performing regularly in concert series around Manchester with his other ensembles, to freelancing with groups such as Northern Ireland Opera.
