Daily Scripture

But we had to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and has come to life; he was lost and has been found. (Luke 15 v 32)

Daily Reflection

The parable of the “Prodigal son” is a very well known story - the story of a son who has gone astray, wasting the gifts that his father has given him but on his return is welcomed back home with open arms. We all make mistakes in life, none of us is perfect and even when we stray far from the straight and narrow we are welcomed home to God with such celebration and joy. And it does not matter how many times we transgress, he is there in our dark days even if we feel that he has abandoned us. The father in this parable offers his love in abundance, his love is boundless and inexhaustible - just as God’s love is - endlessly generous and unconditional. That is a God who I truly want to come home to.
