Daily Scripture

“And I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying:

‘See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away.’”   (Revelation 21:2-4)

Daily Reflection

The Apostle John had a vision; he wrote it down, and as a result we have the book of Revelation. If you’ve ever wondered what eternity will be like, here John attempts to describe it: “the Holy City, the new Jerusalem” is a place where God will “wipe away every tear”; with “no more death, pain, sorrow or crying”. No matter what you are going through, it is not final; there is something better – much better. That is the wonderful truth in these words…..which are often used at funeral services. They give hope that death is not final either; there is something better. We may not know all that we would wish, but it is enough to know that eternity with God will be more wonderful than we can ever imagine!
