Daily Scripture

“Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble and He delivered them from their distress.” (Psalm 107 v19)

Daily Reflection

No fewer than 4 times in this Psalm does the writer talk about God saving people in trouble. People who were hungry and thirsty, in a dark place, sick, hopeless – God sent a way out of their distress. God is as real today, as He was then, and is in the business of saving and helping us out of difficult situations. “They cried out to the Lord in their trouble and He delivered them from their distress”. The key here is that people “cried out to the Lord” – and believed He was the only one who could save them. When our problems seem too big to handle, and we can’t see the way forward, there is One for whom nothing is impossible. He has all the answers – he’s just waiting for you to ask Him.
