Our Building
St Mary's is Grade II*
The stained glass windows of St Mary's are unique and exceptional. Some are framed in alabaster panels and are a mosaic of glass pieces that have had a former life - a graphic and highly unusual symbol of resurrection.
Toilets at the Sarah Losh Heritage Centre are available by pre-arrangement only.
Music and Worship
St Mary's plays host to a number of concerts and music events. Please see the Newsletter for details.
We do not believe that there was an organ when the church was first opened in 1842, however our present organ dates back to 1895 and was originally sited in Storth Chapel in the south Lakes.
Groups, Courses and Activities
St Mary's hold discussion groups throughout the Lent period. See the newsletter for details.
The Friends of St Mary's Church, Wreay was formed to encourage interest in St Mary's and the Losh family as well as raise money for the care and preservation of the building. They hold an annual Friends event with visiting speakers and musicians. A newsletter, 'Pinecone', is published twice a year and is free to all Friends. If you are interested in becoming a Friend then please contact Michael Jones - [email protected].
