St James

UPDATE JUNE 2026: Our beautiful church has been closed for 12 months now, due to structural issues with both the spire and the lychgate. Whilst we have undertaken the necessary structural surveys, we now face the mammoth task of raising over £250,000. We are very grateful to Staveley CE Primary School who allow us to meet every Sunday in their hall for our regular 9.30am service.

At St. James' we are a church family of all ages who seek to grow in our faith and to draw others to the love of Jesus. In our worship we use a blend of hymns and worship songs, seasonal and all age services and encourage lay involvement.

We worship together at 0930 every Sunday. Please see our website and Facebook page for up to date information.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Staveley: St James is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Carlisle’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Margaret Mitchinson or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor Joanne Van Lachterop. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.

PSO: Mrs Margaret Mitchinson, 01539 821500
