Baptism is a joyful and significant occasion in which parents, godparents, and the church make promises before God. At St George’s, we want baptism to be more than a one-off event. Our aim is to help families understand the meaning of baptism, to welcome them into the life of the church, and to offer ongoing support as they begin a journey of faith.
**On Booking a Date**- will be later in the preparation journey
Principles:
• Welcome – Every enquiry is met with warmth and encouragement.
• Journey, not transaction – We don’t just “book a date”; we walk with families.
• Preparation – Families are given time and space to reflect on baptism promises, and to participate in three “lite” sessions of the Alpha course.
• Community – Baptisms happen in the main Sunday service, with the whole church sharing in the commitment.
• Ongoing care & connection – We continue to pray for and support families after the service, and hope to establish a continued connection with the life of the church.
