What a wonderful day we had on Saturday, October 11th.  In addition to our regular weaving members, we were joined by four lovely ladies.

Our day started with show-and-tell.  Each of the regular weaving members brought a past or current project to share with the group.  After introductions had been made, Mother Anne-Marie gave lessons on how to do circular weaving.  She showed us some real life examples of weaving and some examples in printed literature.

We learned how to make a butterfly of yarn to keep our yarn ball from unraveling while we worked.  Each of us were given an embroidery hoop and a bent needle.  Mother Anne-Marie demonstrated how to put the warp on the loom and how to do the weave the yarn, going around the center; 3 warps over, one back.  Each weaver chose a selection of yarn to use for their project.  All of the weavers had their own unique style and everyone's weaving looked great.

The day was sprinkled with laughter, refreshments and a few mistakes.  The joy with weaving is that mistakes are allowed and even encouraged.

Lunch was brought in by Mother Anne-Marie's husband, Andy.  There was a selection of delicious sandwiches to choose from, and a variety of crisps.  Very yum!!  Thanks, Andy!

As the day progress, some of the weavers from the Monday sessions moved onto their other weaving projects.  Clare Rose decided to try using a circular knitting machine to make a hat to match the beautiful scarf she previously wove.  She was able to finish her hat in a under a couple of hours.  

Everyone had a wonderful time and made some new friends.  A lovely surprise was that Mother Anne-Marie was able to reconnect with a friend from her school years.  We are all looking forward to more Weaving Open Days and fellowshipping with friends both new and old.  

Our next Weaving Open Day is Saturday, November 8th from 9:30 am - 4 pm.  We will be learning how to use a peg loom.  All are welcome.  We hope you will join us for another wonderful day of weaving and making friends :)
