Centenary peal of bells

News_about_our_building

We have six bells in the tower, three dating from 1641 and the other three from the 1770s. Two of these last three were recast in the presence of King George V and Queen Mary during their visit to the Croydon foundry of Gillett and Johnston on 12 May 1925. On 12 May this year a celebration quarter-peal was rung to mark the centenary. One of the ringers is the great-niece of E. J. Lovell who paid for the recasting of one of the bells "as a thank-offering to God".
