St Peter’s has been linked to St George’s Chapel ever since 1478, when King Edward IV’s wife Elizabeth Woodville donated the tithes from the parish to help fund the building of the new Chapel. In 2014 St George’s accepted the loan of our 17th-century silver Communion set, which is on display each year at the Evensong to which we are invited. This year our visit was on Sunday 8 June (Pentecost Sunday), and our group of about twenty was warmly welcomed and treated to a musical feast including the anthem which Herbert Howells wrote in honour of President John F Kennedy, "Take him, earth, for cherishing".
