The Mothers Union is a Christian organisation within the Church of England which works to support and encourage marriage and stable family life. There are c4 million members in 83 countries.

The Mothers’ Union in Southam is a parish-based group who usually meet on the second Thursday of each month to pray, volunteer, fundraise and campaign on a variety of family-based issues. The group’s aim is to keep expanding membership and hold more evening meetings to involve those who are not able to attend in an afternoon to join in. More information of what is happening across the Coventry Diocese can be found on the Mothers’ Union Coventry Diocese website.

It is always particularly pleasing to welcome new members as it gives an indication that Mothers’ Union is still a lively growing organisation that has much to offer. You do not have to be a mother to join and gentlemen are welcomed. Equally, if you wish to just support a project we will be pleased to hear from you.

It usually happens on 5th Sundays, but sometimes we have Breakfast Church for Baptisms as we find them a really fun, family friendly time for both frequent and less frequent visitors :)

When Christmas Hurts

Occurring
for 30 mins
Venue
Southam - St. James
Address
Southam - St. James, Town Centre Southam Coventry, CV47 0JA, United Kingdom

Everything in our culture tells us that Christmas is a joyful season: friends, family, food, and gifts all encourage us to celebrate Christmas. But for many, Christmas can be a painful reminder of life’s difficulties.

At St James’ church, we want to recognise that sometimes life is hard, particularly at Christmas, so, through December, we will have a dedicated tree to hang a bauble on to represent a loved one or situation that may ‘cloud’ the Christmas celebrations for us. Throughout the month and in the Christmas services we will be praying for what these baubles represent. If you can’t make it to church to hang a bauble then please contact the office (details below) and one of us will be happy to hang one on the tree for you.

This year, on Saturday 20th December 3pm at St James church, we will also gather to have a short service where we will remember our loved ones and situations, light a candle for them and celebrate Christmas in a quieter more reflective way. Refreshments served anfter the service for annyone who would like to stay for an while. All are welcome.

Revelation ch21 v4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death” or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’

May you know His peace this Christmas.
