St Simon's

Welcome to St. Simon's Church page.

We are a small, friendly group of Christians who worship at St. Simon's, a church built in this community during Victorian Times.

You are very welcome to come along to our services:

Wednesdays for a service with Holy Communion at 10 am followed by refreshments or drop in to Places of Welcome+ - Wednesdays 11-1.

You are also welcome to attend our main service of the week at 9.15 am on Sundays (2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sunday of the Month).  On the first Sunday of the month we tend to gather with people from across the parish at one of our four churches so you can stay up to date by following our Facebook Page here:

We recently refurbished our building to include accessible ramp and toilet with baby-changing facilities and a kitchenette for Community Events.

Our building is on Wenlock Road, South Shields next to the Simonside Metro Stop (NE34 9AL). If you would like to arrange a Wedding, Blessing, Thanksgiving for a Marriage or Baptism for a baby, child or adult, please email our parish office on [email protected] or call 0191 489 1925.

If you would like to hold a community event at our church, again please contact the parish office for more information.

Safeguarding

"Our parish of Jarrow and Simonside is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO).

Our Diocese of Durham’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Officer who advises our PSO.

If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Irene McConnachie on 07796 242116 or the Diocesan Safeguarding Officer Beth Miller on 07968 034075.

If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
