Tenebrae

Venue

Address
Home Farm Lane Weeting, IP27 0RA, United Kingdom

In this service of Tenebrae (or shadows) we will be drawn from the place we begin into increasing darkness as we attempt to recreate the betrayal and abandonment, the agony of the events which lead up to Jesus’ death and the absence of his light from the World. At the very end we shall witness the “great noise”, representing the earthquake and the tearing of the veil in the Temple as well as the return of the Light and that returning Hope. But the story often feels unfinished from this point of Holy Week onwards, until we reach Easter Day and are able to properly celebrate the mystery of the Resurrection.
