Work party have a triumphant day and there's more to come

A group of around 16 volunteers from the USAF help tidy graves, trim branches and unblock gullies around All Saints Church, Wretton with Stoke Ferry. Anthony, Kathleen and others from the congregation supply a lovely lunch and refreshments for them. Roger kindly removed garden waste with his tractor and trailer.

During their work they uncovered the grave of Charles Vader a major pioneer in eye surgery in the mid 1800s.

Another work party of 16 volunteers from the USAF will be with us on Saturday, September 11. We hope they will be able to clear the guttering, paint the grave cast iron fencing, clear centuries of detritus from the graves, and cut back encroaching tree branches.
