Blessing in disguise!

A week ago we had some really bad news. After having our Calor Gas tank moved by necessity, in order to facilitate the sale of the vicarage, we were advised that we could not use our heating as a gas leak had been detected.  We spent some time getting an expert to tell us what the problem was, who advised we had at least 3 leaks and certainly could not use the heating without getting it replaced or at the very least repaired. With Christmas fast approaching, we were concerned about our Christmas Eve event having to be held in a cold church, when the local village hall booking clerk came to our rescue.  Tower Hall in Friday Bridge, situated in Maltmas Drove and just a little way up from the local school, offered us the full use of its facilities. More than that, we have been allowed to have our Christmas Tree placed in the hall quite soon to allow time for the local children to come over and decorate it. This means that we will be able to sing carols around the crib, which is set up as part of the service and we will all be in a warm building. Not only will we be able to serve our mulled wine, warm non-alcoholic fruit punch, tea, coffee and tasty food indoors, but there are marvellous toilets in the Hall, which we do not have at our church. This is a wonderful example of how the community and church can work together, supporting one another, for the good of the whole village. Such a marvellous blessing!
