Keeping our Church Secure

Great News for our NLHF project

Wisbech St Peter and St Paul's Church has received a grant for £1000 from the Cambridgeshire Historic Churches Trust to help us with the cost of the installation of a roof alarm. As part of our NLHF project, timbers in the roof have been repaired and replaced and the metal on the roof has been re-laid.

Alarms are the only proven deterrent to protect against metal theft; they are designed to be virtually invisible and can detect and deter intruders before any damage is caused. Without them the insurance pay-out in the event of a theft is drastically reduced.

Cambridgeshire Historic Churches Trust offers grants and loans to help congregations look after their historic places of worship. The Trust has very generously offered us a loan of £20,000 to help us to manage our finances during the NLHF project.

The Trust’s main source of income after membership is the annual “Ride and Stride”. Each September sponsored cyclists and walkers visit churches, chapels and colleges throughout Cambridgeshire, sharing the money raised between the trust and their local church.
