St John's is the Parish Church of Sheepscombe, Gloucestershire and is part of the Beacon Benefice. The building dates to 1820 with various subsequent modifications.
Our church meets to worship God, pray together, learn from the bible and encourage each other. We follow an Anglican pattern of worship with an informal style. We meet in Sheepscombe on the 3rd, 4th, and if in the calendar, the 5th Sunday of the month for about an hour, followed by refreshments. On the first Sunday, we combine with the other 6 parishes in the Benefice and meet at one of our churches. We are a friendly welcoming church mostly composed of village residents. We seek to be for everyone in the village. Visitors and those who just want to explore the Christian faith are very welcome. We believe Christianity is just as vital and relevant today as 2000 years ago when Christ was on earth. Do come and try us out!
We have a home group that meets during the week on Wednesday morning at 10.30 am and we prayer together on the first Monday of the month in the church at 8.30 am. We also have a Benefice prayer meeting on Wednesdays at 9am via Zoom for half an hour. Some us meet for a short Zoom service following the lectionary with a reflection on Thursdays at 9.30 am for 1 hour. There are many other events happening Benefice wide for children and young people and specific groups for those who wish to explore the Christian faith and for men to meet.
