This morning (Sunday, 8th June) we had a very unpleasant event during the service.
A woman had arrived late and took a purse out of the handbag of the person sitting next to her. Luckily it was noticed and retrieved, so nothing was lost. We all felt dreadfully betrayed that such a thing should happen during Holy Communion, in a place of trust.
This woman left the church quickly after the service before any action could be taken (and it is difficult to know what action we could have taken as the property was not stolen in the end). She then caught a bus to Cinderford and repeated the behaviour in another church, this time successfully stealing from two extremely elderly ladies.
If you see a stranger in your church, be aware she is working her way through our area. The police are informed and hopefully she will be apprehended before she can cause much more destruction.
