St James, All Saints and Christ Church Parish, Gloucester, England has received a financial boost from the government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund to help fund repairs/ restoration during the coronavirus pandemic. <span style="font-size: 1rem;">The grant comes a critical point for the church with plaster falling off the walls. If left much longer, damage to the much-loved church organ would have been beyond repair. Thanks to Historic England we are now able to start the first part of the restoration of the organ at Christ Church. To dismantle the instrument, record and securely store the parts in Christ Church. To create a storage space within the church by temporarily moving side aisle pews and building a lockable storage area around the dismantled instrument where it will be stored until such time as Nicholson's are able to undertake repair work in their workshop.
